Surgery Weekends

Fresh Start provides no-cost medical care to empower children to become healthy adults.

For the past six years, The Plastic Surgery Foundation has been in partnership with Fresh Start Caring For Kids Foundation, whose mission is to transform the lives of disadvantaged infants, children and teens with physical deformities caused by birth defects, accidents, abuse, or disease through the gift of reconstructive surgery and related healthcare services. Fresh Start Caring For Kids Foundation accomplishes its mission through the Surgery Weekend Program, which provides comprehensive healthcare treatments at no cost to children and their families.

Surgery Weekends focus on conditions that are not covered through conventional healthcare programs. Medical procedures are performed by an all-volunteer team of medical specialists who treat a wide range of conditions that affect children's health, quality of life and self-esteem. Fresh Start provides no-cost medical care to empower children to become healthy, confident, and productive adults.

Surgery Weekends are conducted three times per year at the University of Chicago Medicine Comer Children's Hospital at 5721 S. Maryland Ave., Chicago, IL 60637. The next Surgery Weekend will take place on October 24, 2020, and applications are now being accepted.
