The PSF / MTF Allograft Tissue Research Grant

The PSF and the Musculoskeletal Transplant Foundation (MTF) offer research grants to investigators studying allograft tissue transplantation in plastic and reconstructive surgery. These grants are intended to provide support for research projects focused on biologic reconstruction with a strong clinical translation component that utilize dermal, adipose, placental or other allograft transplant technologies. The PSF and MTF offer research grants for projects with a high likelihood of impact on scientific discipline and/or on patient care. Examples of clinical technologies of interest include but are not limited to the use of allograft biologics in breast reconstruction, wound healing, nose reshaping, soft tissue defect filling and other applications of allograft tissue in plastic and reconstructive surgery.

Flyer: Plastic Surgery Foundation / MTF Biologics Allograft Tissue Research Grant Program

"It seems to be getting more and more difficult to find funding sources for biomedical research. Most of the major grant opportunities require a fair amount of preliminary data which, as a young attending, can be difficult to acquire without some initial start-up funds. Fortunately, The Plastic Surgery Foundation has a number of opportunities to help turn your ideas into reality. Funding from The PSF helped me to "get the research ball rolling." For myself, as a plastic surgeon that works with burn patients, the PSF / MTF grant allowed me to initiate a translational research project that, ultimately, may directly benefit this patient population. Furthermore, it has allowed me to gather valuable data, such that I am now in a much better position to apply for additional funding in order to continue the project."
